The project aims to develop recommendations that will help Georgian SMEs overcome the transport and logistics barriers preventing them from fully benefiting from the EU-Georgia DCFTA and expanding their exports to European markets. Georgian SMEs face high freight costs, small shipment volumes, weak logistics infrastructure, and cumbersome certification processes, all of which reduce their competitiveness. To address these challenges, the project analyzes existing export transport practices, compares costs and performance across different modes (road, rail, sea, and air), and identifies accessibility gaps and systemic bottlenecks. A mixed-methods approach is employed, combining quantitative analysis of trade and transport data with qualitative insights from SMEs, logistics providers, business associations, and government agencies. The resulting recommendations will provide actionable pathways for SMEs to improve competitiveness and enhance integration into EU markets.
