ACT Global, in joint venture with GEO Outlook LLC, has been awarded a new Asian Development Bank (ADB) technical assistance assignment to support the integration of gender equality into climate policy across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The project aims to strengthen the policy and institutional environment affecting women’s resilience to climate change and support governments in embedding gender equality considerations more systematically into climate policies, programmes, and action plans.
The assignment combines policy analysis, institutional strengthening, capacity building, and regional knowledge exchange. Working closely with ADB, government counterparts, and national stakeholders, ACT Global will review existing climate change policies, programmes, and plans across the four participating countries, assess gender gaps in their design and implementation, and develop practical recommendations to strengthen gender responsiveness. The work will result in four national assessment reports and a consolidated regional report highlighting country-specific priorities, shared challenges, and opportunities for cross-country learning.
As Lead Partner, ACT Global will provide technical leadership throughout implementation and support the preparation, revision, approval, and implementation of climate policies, programmes, and action plans that incorporate gender equality concerns. The assignment will also include national consultations, capacity-building activities, and a subregional workshop on gender-responsive climate policy.
In addition, the project will support the establishment of an informal regional network of gender and climate change advocates, including national champions in each participating country. Together, these activities will contribute to more inclusive, effective, and resilient climate governance across Central Asia.
